Today at its worldwide launch event, Qualcomm introduced two brand new smartphone platforms to the market: The Qualcomm SoC Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 system-on-chip is the successor of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC; however, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 system-on-chip is the successor to the Snapdragon 778G SoC that the firm previously produced.
The new chipsets have several improvements over their predecessors, including improved support for artificial intelligence (AI) applications and enhanced performance levels. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset offers up to 2x faster AI processing speeds than its predecessor and has a 20 percent lower power consumption rate than previous versions.
Qualcomm SoC 8+ Gen 1
Qualcomm has announced that several companies will be adopting their Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, including ASUS ROG, Black Shark, HONOR, iQOO, Lenovo, Motorola, Nubia, OnePlus, OPPO, OSOM, realme, RedMagic, Redmi, Vivo, and Xiaomi. These businesses will begin offering handsets powered by this chipset as early as the third quarter of 2022.
In addition to this information about Snapdragon 8+, Qualcomm also provided information on Snapdragon 7 Gen 1. The company said that businesses like HONOR and OPPO would adopt this chipset and that handsets powered by it would begin to enter the market around the third quarter of 2022.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is a powerful mobile chipset designed to provide high-performance mobile computing solutions. It has a maximum clock speed of 3.2 GHz, perfect for multitasking and heavy workloads. Additionally, it contains an Adreno GPU capable of providing high-quality graphics for gaming and other multimedia tasks.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon X65 5G modem included with this chipset has a peak download speed of up to 10 Gbps, making it ideal for 5G networks. In addition to 5G support, the Qualcomm FastConnect 6900 is included in the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, enabling WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity. It has a maximum throughput of 3.6 Gbps and supports the 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz WiFi bands. Additionally, it has compatibility for multiple WiFi band frequencies while also including NFC compatibility and USB 3.1 and USB-C compatibility.
This recently introduced CPU is equipped with a Qualcomm Spectra image signal processor when it comes to the camera. It enables a triple camera system of up to 36MP configuration, a dual-camera setup of up to 64+36MP configuration, and a single camera of up to 200MP configuration. It can playback 8K videos at 30 frames per second and 4K movies at 120 frames per second for videos.
Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HDR10, and HLG are some of the supported visual technologies, while Qualcomm Aqstic and Qualcomm aptX are the supported audio technologies. Alongside the Qualcomm Quick Charge 5 technology, it supports data storage at up to 3200 MHz using LPDDR5 and delivers this speed.
Qualcomm SoC Snapdragon 7 Gen 1
This chipset has a maximum clock speed of 2.4 gigahertz (GHz). In addition to that, it contains a Qualcomm Adreno GPU. The Snapdragon X62 5G modem included with this chipset has a maximum download speed of 4.4 Gbps, making it ideal for 5G networks. In addition to 5G, the Qualcomm FastConnect 6900 is included in the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 for WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity. It has a maximum transfer rate of 3.6 Gbps, compatibility for WiFi bands operating at 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz, and support for Bluetooth 5.3, and it has all of these characteristics. In addition to that, it has compatibility with the NFC standard, USB 3.1, and USB-C.
